The Hospital da Luz in Lisbon is the largest and most advanced private hospital in Portugal and provides the full spectrum of care and cure, from wellness visits to complex surgeries.
The Hospital da Luz (Saúde) Lisboa is part of an integrated medical complex consisting of an acute care hospital and a residential hospital, it stands model for medical excellence and innovation at a European level. Its unique architecture combining safety with comfort and the privacy of patients, complement this leadership position.
Challenge
- This major operation consisted in a total make-over of the existing care infrastructure as well as the equipment of new buildings, construed as one multisite, including speech facilities.
Solution
- iCall 2-way speech options combined with very specific software-innovations next to the fact that almost all available cabling could be reused without the need of big management servers and complex middleware, made this a unique project for all involved.
Result
- Because we were able to provide the right solution, for both the existing and the new infrastructure made this a tailor-made and cost-efficient reference site offering staff and patients an effective and future-oriented care package.

Challenge
This major operation consisted in a total make-over of the existing care infrastructure as well as the equipment of new buildings, construed as one multisite, including speech facilities. Re-using the available cabling and with a very specific and individual software programation.
Replacement of the existing nursecall, during daily continuity of all hospital activities. Several different buildings to be interconnected as one multi-side, using one telephony/DECT solution. The installation of a Full-IP nurse call system was necessary in order to maintain a uniform, top-end technologically for all buildings, both the existing as the new units.
Solution
As iCall is the only supplier on the global market that can work on any type of cabling, without the need of any servers or middleware, with a very detailed personal programation of all entities and locations, this was a perfect match for all involved. Combining wired and wireless options, VoIP-solutions and the recuperation of existing installations and cabling, integrating mobile (Android) and RFID-solutions and making one very specific multisite out of it, was the unique way to go and to offer best possible service to staff and visitors.
Result
Best possible service to staff and visitors is guaranteed, with a most efficient visitor’s care and best possible staff efficiency, consolidating as such the European landmark that the Da Luz facilities are.
